The terrain and the sensitive environmental landscape of our nature reserves means access for those using wheelchairs and Trampers can be complicated but we’ve worked hard to open up these spaces as much as possible.
The following sites have routes which meet Access for All standards:
Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve offers accessible routes around the Discovery Zone and an accessible route to its bird hide. The Solway Wetlands Centre also has accessible facilities.
At Finglandrigg Wood you can follow several miles of trails through the reserve. A Miles Without Stiles leaflet is available from Cumberland Council which details the Chalybeate Well trail, a two-kilometre way-marked route suitable for those with limited mobility, including wheelchair users.
Watchtree Nature Reserve offers a network of accessible routes around the reserve. The visitor centre also has accessible facilities.
Working with our partners at Natural England we have produced a short film to showcase the accessibility of the coastal path from Maryport to Allonby
