FiPL at four: making a difference across protected landscapes

We are now in the fourth year of the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme, and what a fantastic four years it has been! Take a look at this Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) blog post to learn more about the tremendous impact FiPL has had on protected landscapes across England.

Farming in Protected Landscapes is a DEFRA funded programme operating in all National Parks and National Landscapes across England. The programme aims to support farmers and landowners to farm more sustainably, protect nature, restore heritage features and make the countryside more accessible.

We have our very own farming officer, who over the past four years, has promoted the programme within the Solway Coast National Landscape, communicating with farmers and landowners and supporting them with applications. This has resulted in the wide range of FiPL projects we have had take place here on the Solway Coast. Our FiPL projects have had a huge impact and contribute significantly to the numbers mentioned in this DEFRA blog post, please do take a look.
