Vitality of Place: The National Landscapes Association Conference!

Our team recently attended the National Landscapes Annual Conference at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.

This year’s theme was “Vitality of Place,” focusing on how to keep the UK’s most cherished landscapes thriving, resilient, and deeply connected to local communities.

We attended the “Disrupt” sessions, which challenged us to think differently about youth climate leadership, design futurism, and systemic regeneration. The team then took part in a several workshops, which focused on real-world solutions, empowering National Landscapes through practical governance, climate adaptation, and sustainable development strategies.

Our team also atteneded a range of site visits, including a visit to the Norfolk Broads National Park, the
Suffolk & Essex Coasts & Heaths National Landscape and
RSPB Strumpshaw Fen. Through these site visits, we gained direct insight into innovative projects happening across other protected landscapes, while also connecting with a diverse network of industry specialists as we walked over the land.

We left Norfolk feeling inspired and ready to implement what we have learned into our work here on the Solway Coast National Landscape.

A huge thank you to the National Landscapes Association for hosting such an impactful event!
